Quantity Surveying

The Centre of Studies for Quantity Surveying is one of the pioneering centre of studies established at faculty. The centre of studies currently conducts two programmes - Diploma in Quantity Surveying (DQS) and Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (BQS). To date, more than 5,000 diploma students and over 2,000 degree students have graduated from these programmes.

The 3-year diploma is conducted on a full-time basis. It currently has a total number of about 1,300 students in the branch campuses of Seri Iskandar, Perak and Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. The BQS programme is conducted at the Shah Alam campus on full-time and part-time modes. The duration of the BQS programme is three years.

The entry requirement for BQS programme is STPM (Malaysian Higher School Certificate) or a Matriculation Certificate. Candidates with a Diploma in Quantity Surveying from recognized institutions of higher learning or related programme may also apply and credit transfer for certain courses may be given for these students. The part-time programme caters for diploma holders only.

Since 2003, the student intakes for the bachelor programme have been steadily increasing and the department is gearing to have a yearly enrolment of 200 students.

On average, 75% to 80% of UiTM Diploma in Quantity Surveying holders proceeds for the bachelor in quantity surveying in local universities and abroad. Some pursue their first-degree in recognized universities in United Kingdom and Australia with advance entry into the second or third year of a 3-year or 4-year bachelor programme.

Both the Diploma in Quantity Surveying and Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) are recognized by the Malaysian Government. The Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) programme is accredited by the Board of Quantity Surveying Malaysia (BQSM) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor (RICS).
