The Brunei Institution of Geomatics (BIG) welcomed lecturers and students from the real estate studies, Schools of Real Estate and Building Surveying, College of Built Environment, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia (UiTM) for a discussion during a meet-up at a cafe in Kiulap yesterday.
The UiTM delegation comprised eight lecturers and seven students led by Associate Professor and Technologist Dr Emma Marinie binti Ahmad Zawawi, who was greeted by BIG President Haji Mohd Don bin Haji Omar.
The visit aimed to find strategic partners for academic, research and consultancy in real estate between the university and industry both in Malaysia and overseas.
Prior to the meeting the delegation learned more about Brunei’s environment by taking a cruise along the Brunei River.
The delegation is to visit the Brunei Board of Valuers and Estate Agents (BoVEA), Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and local valuation consultancy company MD Associates (MDA).
The BIG was established in 2003 and is licensed to provide survey and mapping services in the Sultanate.
In 2022, BIG signed a memorandum of understanding with UiTM to assist and cooperate.
